Reclaim Gift Aid

Gift Aid It!Add 25% more to your donation at no cost to you. A Gift Aid declaration allows Sahara For Life Trust to claim tax back on eligible donations. It means that for every £1 you donate to Sahara For Life Trust we can claim back 25p, at no extra cost to you.

By ticking the "Yes" box, I agree I would like Sahara For Life Trust to reclaim the tax on all qualifying donations I have made, as well as any future donations, until I notify them otherwise. I understand that if I pay less Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax than the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all my donations in that tax year I may be asked to pay any difference. I understand that Sahara For Life Trust will reclaim 25p of tax on every £1 that I give.

What is Gift Aid?

Gift Aid does not cost you a penny more, but can add an additional 25p to every £1 you donate. When Sahara For Life Trust receives a donation from a UK taxpayer, we're entitled to claim an amount of tax (calculated at the basic rate of income tax in that year) paid on that donation. Once you have given your permission for us to do this on your behalf, there is no need for you to do anything else.

All that is required is that you must be a taxpayer and that would have paid or will pay sufficient Income and/or Capital Gains Tax to cover all the Gift Aid claimed on all your donations in that tax year. Please note that it is your responsibility to pay any difference.

The amount of tax we claim will be 25% of the total value of your donations in that tax year. Furthermore, if you are a higher taxpayer, you are also entitled to claim the difference between the basic rate which we will claim and the amount of tax you have actually paid. For further details on how you can do this, please contact your tax office. If your tax situation changes and your gifts will no longer be eligible for the Gift Aid scheme please contact us and we will amend your record accordingly.

How Zakat Changes Lives

  • The primary purpose of Zakat is to assist the poor, needy, and disadvantaged by ensuring their basic needs are met.
  • At SAHARA, we focus on distributing Zakat in a way that empowers people to break the cycle of poverty and achieve financial independence. Additionally, part of our Zakat distribution goes to support the Sughra Shafi Hospital in Narowal, aiding needy patients in accessing essential medical care.
Zakat: Criteria and Important Considerations

While Zakat holds significant importance in Islam, it is not an obligatory duty for everyone.

The following guidelines can assist you in determining whether Zakat is mandatory for you:

  1. Engaging in charity, particularly through the act of giving Zakat in the name of Allah, yields significant positive impacts for both the individual carrying out the charitable deed and the society in which they reside. These benefits encompass:

Unification in the cause of Allah, accompanied by angelic prayers for those contributing to divine purposes.

  2. Zakat functions as a safeguard from hellfire for those who wholeheartedly obey Allah with unwavering faith.
Furthermore, the act of donation fosters a sense of belonging within society by facilitating balanced wealth distribution. This uplifts the poor and needy, thereby diminishing social disparities and nurturing equality among individuals by the intentions of Allah.
Who Needs to Pay Zakat
  • Zakat is compulsory for mentally sound Muslim adults who own a minimum amount of Zakatable wealth (Nisab) for at least one lunar year.

  • Minors with trust funds or inheritances may also have an obligation to pay Zakat, contingent upon specific conditions.

Fundamental Requirements for Zakat

Zakat is mandatory for mentally sound adult Muslims who possess the minimum amount of Zakatable wealth (Nisab) continuously for at least one lunar year. It is a charitable practice in Islam with numerous benefits for individuals and society. Consider the following points for calculating Zakat and gaining insights:

Zakat extends beyond being a yearly obligation; it serves as a potent tool for uplifting and aiding the needy. Its significance is underscored in the Quran, where it is mentioned more than 30 times and interconnected with prayer.

Paying Zakat signifies a commitment to both personal development and community service.

As we are aware that thousands of people have been killed as they slept in Turkey after a 7.8-magnitude earthquake hit in the early hours of Monday, 6th February, 2023 morning, in one of the most powerful quakes in the region in at least a century. Thousands more were injured as the quake wiped out entire sections of major cities.

Now, “SAHARA for Life Trust” is planning to distribute free tents, food items and medicines in this challenging time for earthquake victims of Turkey. We would extremely happy to have your support. The price of a tent will be PKR 125,000 (USD 500 & GBP 400).

May Allah reward you for this noble gesture and help us in our humble endeavors. Kindly consider our application sympathetically only to win solace here and hereafter.
